cleveland motor - carb question

Ray1Boss - figure you are the host for most of tech on such a project. I had the q code transformed w/solid lifters and a lunati high performance flat cam shaft on a modded 9.5 compression that the lunati is suppose to take like in the 70 cleveland a 10.1 compression minimum w/ the ram air to an open air K & N Filter system and figure xado.com can boost the .5 compression to take it to the correct comp for the lunati ie a holley avenger 700cfm MPEFI forced air system w/o 2 sensor option to handle up to 300 hp. Was told w/the change over to solid mechanical lifters and .... Complete rebulld to ..@ 350 hp by a cleveland motor specialist but into 2 weeks after rebuild w/650 holley at the time- he died at the hands of a doctor during a serious operation. 4 weeks into the dyno tune. Finding it wants to keep running rich.

Your thoughts w/out the advise a little late in the game of replacing the 2/4 barrel improved oilers cleveland heads to the mach 1 CJ cleveland heads and a torquer 4v intake manifold.

I am looking at your post and I am not quite sure what you are asking. Are you now running the Avenger EFI and the hand held monitor is indicating a rich A/F ratio? If that is the case I would look for an exhaust leak as it could be causing the WBO2 sensor to give a lean indication to the ECU which would in turn increase fuel delivery and make the engine run rich. Another thing I found out is that the fuel map tables that are programmed into the ECU's sometime don't match up too well with the performance cams. Usually there are 3 settings for cams in the programming, Stock/street-strip/performance for cam types. Try to go down one setting if there are no exhaust leaks. I am running pretty much the same set up but with a MSD system and I had the same problems. I am running a 290 duration with .540 lift and 110* lobe centers and I had to go from the performance to the street/strip cam setting. These ECU's are self learning so as you drive the car it will optimize the fuel tables as you drive it. Here are my A/F settings:

Idle 13.6

Cruise 14.0

WOT 12.9

My engine seems to want to idle better with a richer A/F setting at idle. I have also seen others saying the same on other forums for the 351C's.

I have to admit - I am also having a very difficult time understanding your post.

 

You post in the WIKI under the heading of Cleveland Motor? Then in the posting you specifically address me to ask some questions or want my opinion?
