Monte Carlo bar for 71 Mach 351C

I’m creating this one because the one that I found is over 10 years old and it didn’t have the answers that I needed.

Basically I bought the straight Monte Carlo bar and you know the three bolts there on both ends and it has the angle lined up perfectly but the alternator is in the way so I need the one that wraps around it you know has the little bowed out in the middle.

The bar doesn’t go on top of this shock struts or anything it goes basically in front of it in the corner about 4 inches down you on both those two bolts there on each side I think you’d probably have to remove on the driver side the washer reservoir which I had to remove mine already so I don’t know if you had to or not but that’s basically where it goes.

I saw a photo of my motor so you can see my motor which is basically the stock air filter although the do you know intake is high so their filter is high but that doesn’t have anything to affect the Monte Carlo bar.

So I’m hoping some people on here have a Monte Carlo bar already that may have photos of it and could put reply and put their photos on it and the ones with the boat out to where it’ll fit where the alternator goes there’s so many different types that you can buy that have the bow But a lot of them look like they fit in a different spot not like the straight one here

I think this one I had taken a photo of from one of the Mustang sites that sell them I just don’t know which one yet but looking at it the way the end are looks like it might be the right one .

But still I’d like to see anybody else what they’ve done which one they got brand where I can get it etc. what they think of it.

I’m in a bit of a hurry I’ve got that road race for the MidAmerican Shelby meeting in June and since my car is in a shop at my family‘s farm in sand Springs Oklahoma. It’s hard to get over there to finish everything in time for June especially for my when I have surgery in March which will put me out for 6 to 9 weeks not sure 6 to 8 weeks but we’ll see but I see anybody else’s thank you

As I mentioned in your other post, IMO for the bar to be the most effective it should span between the spring mounts at the top of the towers.
This is mine which I fabricated with pieces from Mike Maier's.

I cannot find one similar to this that fits a 71. I don’t want to have to fabricate it but there has to be one that works for a 71. I’ve checked all the top sellers
 
Not a bad option. What I don't like about it is that the heims allow movement in between links.
You are right, unfortunately there are not ideal ones for our cars so that's why I ended up fabricating mine.
how much could the heims move do you think? Enough to make a bad difference? well I think I'm going to go with this one and if i don't like it I'll send it back, its 650$. hey thanks for your help. Also, i see where you put your MSD, I'm going to put mine where I took out my reservoir for windshield wiper fluid. I think its a good spot for mine and I do not have to redo the wiring. I decided this one is going to be a nice weekend drive car but road race during for fun. I have the original motor rebuilt already with everything for, new came everything, it came with the car. Ill keep all the original other parts too. But I have that 71 with the Ram air coming soon that I bought, just packing it up. perfect one to make into a show car. Better options, its a light pewter metallic color according to the marti report, its got the console option which has the clock above the shifter, so im hoping that means it has the tachometer in the right spot to the left of speedometer instead of the stupid clock like mine.
 
Quality spherical rod ends do allow movement under certain applications. When used as a rod end on a straight rod connected to non-moving mounting locations, they are limited to one degree of freedom with movement limited to rotation of the rod. These joints are very solid. In application as a Monte Carlo bar, the rod ends allow for alignment of the retaining pin (or bolt) to the mounting angles and length adjustments of the connecting rod to the application.

Here is my concern. The part of the export that mounts to firewall appears to be straight. (See Tony's note above) The 71-73 is not straight across. The vehicle shown in the install instructions is not a 71-73 car. It is an earlier car. Hate to see someone spend $650 and it not work. Might be worth a phone call and inquiry with them before pulling the trigger.

I wish I could find a curved Monte Carlo bar for a 71 they only make the straight one which does not fit because of the distributor which is stupid for them even making and then selling. At least I get my money back on it but damn I wish I could find a curved one otherwise I’m paying 609$ for the one in my above reply

Good point about the end that goes along the firewall. It may be worth calling. Maybe the picture is a generic picture, but you are right. The pre 71 Mustangs had a straight firewall and our has a turn towards the driver side. That was the main reason why I needed to custom fabricate mine so it follows the firewall.

EDIT: however, seeing the larger picture in the website I can see that the straight end is very short so it may be able to fit the straight section of the firewall.
EDIT 2: I still would give them a call because you have some extra bars and you want to understand if there is a chance for them to interfere with something else like steering pump, cooler, A/C compressor, large RAM air filter, etc. All depending on what options you have.

They will allow rotation along the axis of the bolt so may allow a bit of lateral movement. However, who knows if that is significant to be an issue. As you say, the adjustable rod lengths allow for flexible installation in different cars.
