Tilt wheel rag joint 73

I can’t seem to find a replacement rag joint for my 73 with tilt steering. Can somebody smarter than me direct me to the right part thank you.

If you have the correct rag joint, replace the rubber insulator with one from a Dorman Help kit

If not, Cwalker posted a tutorial on how to build one.

I bought a Lares 201 steering coupler from Rock Auto for my 71 with tilt column. The 201 matched the number of splines and the inner and outer diameter measurements of my tilt column and my steering gear even though I don't think it was actually listed for a tilt column. I thought that I would take the chance and order it with the hope it would work. As I recall it was less than $20 so I thought it was worth the chance that it might work, and it fit perfectly. It might be worth your time to count splines on your old coupler and use a caliper to get accurate I.D. and O.D. measurements and see if you can match one up.

Speaking of tilt wheels, anyone know a source for the bail wire retainers? 3E543 is the part number. One of my two has lost its stiffness. Would like to replace both. Everywhere I look says they are discontinued. Maybe a source is someone who services them. Anyone know someone like that? Thanks.
