My Car
1972 Coupe
Looking for diagnosis opinions on a turn signal issue.

Before I go tearing into this, I want to make sure I am tracking properly. The turn signal on the coupe is being problematic. Most times when I start the car, left and right turn signals will work. There is power to the left and right indicator lights on the dash and power to the taillights with all working as it should. Other times I turn the car on..and when i signal, it will tick and light up once or twice and then stop working completely. No ticking. No lights. Other times it will not tick, light up or work at all. Since I have power to the lights on the dash, and when it does work, power to the taillights...I am assuming this is a switch issue, versus a fuse or wiring issue.

Like I said, before I go searching to buy a new signal switch and doing all that tear down, I want to see if anyone had any thoughts, or if my initial theory is accurate.

Have a great weekend all.

If it’s the turn signal switch, the only thing you have too remove is the steering wheel. Sometimes the contacts gets dirty and needs to be cleaned up and some dielectric grease applied to them. The plug on the bottom end of the switch harness could be not making a good connection too.
