Like / dislike of 71-73 Mustangs

I agree that whoever designed the fuse block wasn't thinking, or was a sadist. That said, my first car was a '65 falcon, and the fuse block was the same size at the same place. (Back then my 16 yr old frame could get to it a lot easier). I made a better fuse block and made it easier to get to...

    Vapor lock, I think

I don't really know how to cross-post one of my older posts, so I just copied and pasted it here. Hope it's of some help. I just solved a similar problem. I ended up going the long way around the barn for a deceptively simple problem. Here's what I replaced: First, I thought it was a bad coil...

    Front Spoiler for Mach1

I got the same one as Tony-muscle, and it fits fine. Actually, The one I have now is the second, because the first one I installed, I scraped off on a parking bumper. This one, I re-enforced the mounting screw area with a metal strip under the spoiler attachment area.

    72 Mustang AM/8Track speaker issues

It sounds like you're pretty savvy in basic electronics, Jaysay. You could check out ebay for a "Parts" AM FM 8 Track Player, and swithc out the balance pot, and see if that makes a difference.

    72 Mustang AM/8Track speaker issues

Have you tried DeoxIT spray? It's an easy fix if the balance or volume potentiometer is the problem.

    Random Shutdowns with a BANG!

I just solved a similar problem. I ended up going the long way around the barn for a deceptively simple problem. Here's what I replaced: First, I thought it was a bad coil, replaced it - No help. Thought it could be a grounding problem, so I tested the wiring harness to the coil. No help. Then I...

NEED ALL MEMBERS TO RESPOND PLEASE!

My 1973 Mach -1 Still sports its original medium bright yellow factory paint although a bit worn. All body panels are original. It also has its factory issued Cleveland 351 engine, which has been fully rebuilt and its refurbished, original C6 transmission. A set of 4 Keystone Kustom Wheels...

    Engine swap question

Got mine rebuilt at Arizona Engine Rebuilders. They were fair and honest. 602-278-9195

They say it is the best '72 Mach1 on the planet

If there are all new parts such as the engine, body parts and interior, IS it still a '72 Mach-1? Not in my opinion. It seems its more of a copy of a '72 Mach-1, using a few original parts. I suppose if she's happy, that's what matters.

    Rear seat belts—which way?

Yes they are, as mine disappeared down the rabbit hole in the seat crease, and are a bear to either fish back out, or remove the seat to reset.

    Seat belt color

Not much showing in this pic, but mine are Ginger as well.

Hi, and Welcome to the group! You're very lucky to have gotten that car in as great of shape as she is. The more I restore older cars, the more I appreciate them for what they were when they were made. That said, I side with the rest of the crowd who sez "Keep the straight 6 motor". There are...

    Tired motor

If they vanish into the firewall, at least one of them is the vacuum control for the heater/air conditioner controls.

    It's a GASSS

Am I the only one here who is having performance issues due to the recent quality of gasoline? I always use premium and add Lucas Gas treatment for top-end lube. I'm running a Holly 650, on my 351-C. I believe there is too much ethanol in our gas now.

    Tired motor

Just another thought... Start it up at night. That way you might see some cross-arcing in the plug wires (if there is a split in a plug wire).

    Tired motor

You've probably been over this multiple times, but here is the diagram that I used when re-plug-wiring my car.

    Tired motor

Frankly. It sounds like one cylinder doesn't have compression. Check the timing, but I wouldn't go adjusting it until I checked everything else. I'd disconnect one plug at a time to determine which cylinder is the problem. If you can find it, pull the plug and check it, gap and whether there...

Speaker Fitment in rear package tray on 73 coupe

I built a false bottom in the package tray area. Just enough to fit my amp and an enclosure I custom made to complement a subwoofer. Everything is invisible under the "false floor". I never had a top cover for that area as you have pictured.

The Rickster - a 73 Mach 1 work in progress

When I had my 351 C rebuilt, the shop got me oversized valves and rockers instead of tappets. It runs much quieter and breathes much better. Also a new set of pistons and rings.
