    Radiator Overflow Tank Question

CC, I’m interested in your radiator locators as well. Mine are just temporary. Looks like you used the stock mounting locations.

    Upper control arm

More likely, Moog built one part number that replaced several parts because none of them alone could be made economical, due to the low sales volume. That’s what happened to the 73 idler arm, and I suspect countless other parts. But, since we like to work on things, trimming is not a big deal.

    Help Locating a Dead Short

Here is a pic of the back of my instrument cluster; the CVR is circled in red:

‘73 Mach 1 in search of a 351 Cleveland and factory transmission replacement.

I see on Facebook Marketplace several 351C short blocks in the greater LA area. You might have to buy a rebuildable shortblock from one person and heads from another. Another idea; contact local rebuilders to see if they have anything. Just ideas for local supplies.

    New to site

Yea, here in So Cal, I’ve seen quite a few engines for sale. Why don’t you tell us more about your plans for the restoration. It will help calibrate us to know what to recommend along the way. Welcome.

    I Donated, Did you?

For what it’s worth, and probably not much, I would rather folks bought the Ford Service manual, their year’s wiring diagram, and the Ford Assembly manual First before they donated to the site. Just my pet rant.

    351c issues MAYBE

Did we ever find out base and all in timing?

    Starting A New 72 Mach 1 Project

Welcome from So Cal. That looks to be a very fun project. You should start a Build Thread for your car, so we can follow along. Replacing that urathane bumper could be a pricy process unless you get lucky.

    351c issues MAYBE

The first thing sounds like detonation. What is your initial and all in timing? Also, what is your compression ratio? Since the engine is newer, you may need to do further carb refinements and tuning.

Fitting for Ford P/S pump to a Borgeson gear box

I can confirm the stock 73 return hose does fit on the return fitting on the later model year pump.

    Electric Choke and Wiring

That looks like the work of @Fast71. He is the Yoda of wiring diagrams.

Fitting for Ford P/S pump to a Borgeson gear box

What I originally did was I purchased a hose that worked with the newer model pump, and went to a hose shop to have them make the other end, to connect that to the stock 73 steering box. In the end, the shop made a completely new hose, both ends, exact length, and I returned the hose I bought...

Fitting for Ford P/S pump to a Borgeson gear box

The reason I asked about the “302” engine is that I did an 87 5.0 swap into my 73, and had to have a custom high pressure hose made to connect the stock PS pump that came on the 87 to the stock PS gear box that came with the 73. The 87 pump uses a special o ring style hose connect; nothing like...

Fitting for Ford P/S pump to a Borgeson gear box

Is it a late model 5.0 engine? Like out of a fox body?

    Need some ideas

“I know what happened. You jacked me up and installed the new exhaust system. That lifting caused something in the fuel tank to partially clog the fuel inlet. It’s still in there and I’m not sure it won’t cause the same problem.” Signed, Your Car

    Need some ideas

Just to rule out a restricted muffler, you could do the rev engine and hand test the exhaust pipe outflow, to see if there is a noticeable difference. It’s a long shot, but something else to check off the list.

    Need some ideas

I don’t know how you made the exhaust system swap, but I would check anything that you removed to install it that remotely could be a culprit. Normally, the last upgrade is the cause of the next trouble.
