    Brake pad pins

I was not able to get the clips installed until I reshaped the bend to more closely match the original shape. The clips I bought, came from Napa and have a much larger loop. the originals would grab a 3/8" stud, but the new ones would not even come close to that. After reshaping, they went on...

    Best Mufflers

If memory serves, you're running a TBI system? Does your system log a parameter that would show an increase in fuel delivery to maintain the AFR? I'm curious how much additional fuel is added with the reduced back pressure. I always had to rejet my carb for open headers when I took it to the...

    Blue steering wheel question

I looked for it also and couldn't find it. There's a guy selling an air filter in Lodi....it MIGHT have been that same guy. I scan that area, periodically, and if it turns up again, I'll let you know.

    MuscleTang mod project thread (1971 M-Mach 1)

I didn't realize the differential oil gets that hot on normal cruising.

    Bad fuel tank sending unit.....AGAIN!!

Hey there Terry! Sorry to see you're having trouble with this. Hope you're able to get a long term fix so you don't have to deal with this again. Best Regards, Brian

    Brake pad pins

I've not see a special tool for them. I've only needed to use something to hold the back side of the pin, as Hemi said. The distance from the tip of pin to the groove the clip engages is relatively long and requires that little tab to open quite a bit. I'll be installing a set this weekend...

    Blue steering wheel question

Yeah, be carful with that woodgrain trim piece. They are hard to find and they attach to the rubber horn switch with some of those 1-way internal star washers that require care in removing...I've seen several of the trim pieces broken around those retainers.

    Blue steering wheel question

Take a look at craigslist in Modesto CA. I saw a blue wheel in pretty nice condition at a very reasonable price when I was there earlier this year. I considered buying it, but reminded myself of the growing collection of "junk" that I already have.

    Best Mufflers

Based on recommendations from this forum, I went with the Dynomax Super Turbos. I put together a system that exited just head of the rear axle with the intent of running out the back at a later time. Last week, I decided to get some prebent tubes on order to finish the job. I spoke to Tom...

    CHI 4V heads report

Which offenhauser intake were you running? What TFS intake are you running now? Track Heat? Would like to know if the Track Heat fits under the NACA/NASA hood?

    Fuel filler pipe gasket replacement

The one I mentioned came from CJ Pony. I just looked and they don't list who makes it for them. The fit was good, other than those tabs, but had I checked them right after receiving (often not the case with me) I would have asked for a replacement. I have Sherman panels for a ranchero that...

    Fuel filler pipe gasket replacement

It is highly recommended to check the fit of your tail lights to the panel before you weld it in place. The panel I bought had the mounting tabs improperly located on one side and I had to move them. I didn't discover this until it was welded in place. It would have been much much easier to...

Vehicles For Sale Where to sell a 1971 Mach 1 429 SCJ?

It wouldn't surprise me if the original hood was tucked away somewhere and possibly already painted to match. Indeed this is a rare car and the custom hood hurts its value so that's what I would have done to preserve that value. Best wishes with the sale.

    71 351 Cleveland starting/cranking issue

When you jumped the solenoid and it cranked normal and then slowed way down, you isolated the issue to the battery, cables, starter, solenoid, and cable connections. You said the cables get hot when it does crank. That's an indication of excessive amperage through that cable....there's may be...

Feedback on Midolyne Strut Rod Bushings

Did you ever run polyurethane bushings on those rods? The bushings I have are nowhere near the durometer of polyurethane.....they actually don't feel any stiffer than OEM rubber.

Feedback on Midolyne Strut Rod Bushings

The rebuild kit I'm installing came with Midolyne strut rod bushings. I've read mixed reviews on these....seeing where some have experienced them splitting/cracking after very little use. They are supposed to be a compromise between rubber and polyurethane. They seem fairly soft to me. I'd...

    Rust under Upper control arm

They sell bushings for the idler arm, you may want to look into rebuilding what you have. Rock Auto sells them for both ends. Pay attention to bushing diameters if you go that route...I believe there are different versions of the bushings.

Early vs Later Upper Control Arm Fitment

The attached pdf compares 3 different Upper Control Arms. One is the 3-bolt version, used on our cars, and the other two are different styles of earlier version, 4-bolt (ball joint). The 3-bolt provides the most clearance, but I found it interesting that there are differences in the 4-bolt...
