Metal Tabs along Roof Rail Weatherstrip

As usual, this forum always has the answers due to the fantastic members... Thanks for the info, I had no idea they were reproduced. I never ran into them. Looks like they attach under the weather striping and my weatherstrips are both in good shape, no rips. Thanks again...

Metal Tabs along Roof Rail Weatherstrip

Can someone tell me what the 2 metal tabs are for that are on the roof rail weatherstrip? I suspect maybe the rear one is to hold the top of the quarter glass against the weatherstrip? The front one to press the window glass against the weatherstrip? What would happen if I cut them off?   My...

    Sail Panel Install

Thanks for the responses. That answers the question. Sounds like at minimum, a tuck under the gasket. Maybe I'll pull the rear window, replace the aged hard gasket, and do the wrap... Thanks again

    Sail Panel Install

I'm kinda curious... I saw a thread by Machmeter 1 where he wrapped the upper fabric edge of his sail panels under the rear window gasket. My 72 Mach shows no evidence that the sail panels upper edge was ever wrapped behind the rear window gasket. I'm restoring the interior on my car and it's...

Cleaning up lights, wiper plastichrome bezels

Does anybody know a trick way to clean the plastichrome on these bezels without ruining them? A little overspray is present... for instance, brake fluid will take paint off of many of the plastic interior pieces... I'm wondering if there's a trick to making these nice again? The lighter...

    Need help with hole size

Can someone PLEASE help me out here... The previous owner of my Mach 1 *******ized the hole in the dash for the BRAKE warning light bezel. This is the parking brake warning light, down on the lower left of the metal dash.  Can someone please toll me what size hole this should be?    I assume...

What is this under my seat?

Thank you very much Cleveland Coupe and John! I noticed when testing it that sometimes when pressure is off the seat, the switch doesn't always open.  Should be interesting when it's all back together.  I'll check the schematic again, now that you've clued me in.

What is this under my seat?

[attachment=44549] In the process of a full interior make over of my 1972 Mach 1, I ran across this pressure switch built into the passenger seat. I cannot find this switch in the 1972 wiring manual posted on this site.  (The manual stops at page 9.  I believe there should be more pages. ...

Vacuum Source for Heater/AC Hose Octopus?

Thank you Danno and DonC. I had never seen the stock vacuum canister before in it's original application. My 66's and 67's didn't have them. It's used only for the feed to the heater controls. I suppose I'll put the power brake booster back on manifold vacuum like my 1st 67, and use the...

Vacuum Source for Heater/AC Hose Octopus?

The 72 Mach 1 I bought has an aftermarket vacuum canister.  It has a Summit gauge on top which reads 25 in when the car is running. The only vacuum line coming off the canister is going to the power brake booster. The 351C has a mild cam in it, so I suppose the previous owner was giving the...

    What is this for?

I'd like to revive this thread to get some additional info. While restoring the interior of my CA emissions 72 Mach 1. I ran across this same box, the "Spark Control Switch", #D2AF-9E740, wondering "what is it for?" "Secluff" gave a great explanation of this unit, and just recently helped me...

Need help with A/C vacuum switch ID

Secluff, I'm slightly confused.  Scott Drake lists that part as C7ZZ-18C311, A/C Vacuum Switch.  It seems like it would have to have an internal spring.  The lever on the heater box would depress the switch, and the spring would return the plunger to the out position when the lever moves away? ...

Need help with A/C vacuum switch ID

I'm rebuilding the heater/AC box on my 72 Mach and I believe this switch isn't working correctly. I believe I've seen this switch, #C7ZZ-18C311, on another post and it had a spring in it.  That post was by '72HCODE' way back in 4 of 2011.  It is an excellent explanation of all the vacuum...
