    Wix 51268 Oil Filter

Tim clarified today … he said they made that design change a year ago, and he didn’t get the website pics updated. That being the case, the allen would need to be long enough come through the filter side of the adapter if it’s used to install in the block.

    Wix 51268 Oil Filter

Let us know if you get better results with Tim. I sent pics with my email too. Hard to imagine he looked at the pics and still thought the adapter was fine.

    Wix 51268 Oil Filter

I had the same issue. I emailed Tim to ask if this was a design change because it seems the Allen should be used from the filter side, not from the block side. He responded it has always been that way to benefit flow? Doesn’t look that way in the website pics.

    Wix 51268 Oil Filter

For those who have made the switch to the WIX 51268 oil filter, using TMeyer's nipple adapter … one difference I read about this filter is the lack of an anti drainback valve. Does this create a trade-off between higher oil pressure while running vs. oil at startup? Or, is this not a concern...

Motorcraft FL 1A oil filter cut apart

For those who have made the switch to the Wix 51268, I notice one difference with this filter is the lack of an anti drainback valve. Is this a concern with the cleveland?

    Removing hood springs

I used an extra seat belt to remove and replace my springs. Saw that trick on West Coast Cougar, I think.

Lots of good advice. Thanks, everybody. I’ll take a look at these things and let you know how it comes out.

    Hot Brake Drum

I did put hi-temp grease on those raised areas. It didn't occur to me to check those plates for replacement, though. None of them were worn through, but I recall some were not exactly flat/smooth. Don't remember which spots or on which side of the car.

    Hot Brake Drum

Over the last few weeks, I overhauled the brakes, including new drums, shoes, cylinders in the rear, and an aftermarket disc upgrade in the front. Took it for first test drive yesterday ... actually first time I've been able to get it on the road this year. Made sure that I had a good brake...

    Axle Seal Concern

I like that bearing with the o-ring! My bearing looks ok. No marks or blueing. Spins smoothly. Guess all I can do right now is carefully clean up the burrs on the inner bore, and install the new seal. Just don’t understand why the changing angles from the brake plate to the inner bore. Would...

    Axle Seal Concern

The other day, I was getting the car ready to take out for the first drive this year. Jacked the car up to change oil and noticed a little fluid on the inner side of the rear tires. Pulled the drums and found grease oozing down from the axles. This afternoon, used a slide hammer to pull the...

    Wilwood Dynalite Disc Brakes

Thanks for the great info. I do have access to a drill press and tap set. Wishful thinking, I guess, that pulling the spindles could be avoided. Replaced the springs a couple years ago. Not excited about messing with them again. I do see, though, there are other manufacturers with disc brake...

    Wilwood Dynalite Disc Brakes

Considering upgrading my stock front disc brakes to the Wilwood Dynalite kit. I understand this requires drilling out and tapping holes in the spindle. I searched the forum, but couldn’t find examples of this being done without removing the spindles. Would like to avoid that. Has anyone...
