Checking craigslist for anything of interest and found this Torino that was ordered with non factory color of black they say. I thought they had black in 72 but they say not. It will have a special DSO code if it is. Seem like a good price if car checks out asking $7,900. https://asheville.craigslist.org/cto/d/1972-ford-gran-torino-sport/6341081677.html

I live 30 min. from the location if anyone is really interested I would be willing to go check it out for you. Looks like a driver quality car not perfect by no means.

Wow David, that sure didn't last long. Black was not a RPO for the Gran Torino. Guess black made it  hard to hide a lot of the typical sheet metal flaws of that time era. But....black sure did look good on the Mustangs and Torino's then. Like you said, not perfect, but looked complete and a nice driver car. Sure wished it would have been a Sportsroof!

luxstang, since David started this post about a Gran Torino, hopefully he wont mind if I do a "Show and Tell" here. I remember you posting a while back about how much you liked the Gran Torino's. They gained a little weight with the full frame compared to my 70 Torino GT. But they rode and handled so much better it was unreal. The red one was my first new car and while it wasn't the fastest car I had ever owned, it sure had the look and sound a 21 year old needed when cruising. The Gold glow had the N code 429, but I eventually built a combo of Police Interceptor/CJ 429 to rectify the lack of horsepower with the Thunderjet 429. I also had owned a third one that was another Gold Glow but with no vinyl roof and a Q code engine. They were really fun cars that had useable back seats and trunks and with no unibody shock towers the engines were easy to work on. Even though I replaced the front springs with the Torino Police Interceptor units, it still sit low in the front when compared to the 351 car. Those 429's are heavy! My brother got the bright ideal to help me hide the black "Soot" problem I was experiencing with  the 4300D carburetor at each tailpipe by painting the rear valence black. Hid the black but made the car look as thought the valence was missing! Changed it back and tried to made sure it was always covered in tire smoke!   :whistling:

When I was looking further there was also an add looking for one so the two probably got together and made a deal.

You guys into the BB should look at CL in Asheville, Knoxville and Charlotte areas often there is always something on there for them. I have been searching for 351 4 bolt block for my 72 CJ build is why I am on there about every day.
