I think the lines inside the car are correct. In the engine bay I have 2 small lines coming thru the firewall attached to nothing. I have the line going to the trans modulator, (the only one I am sure of). I have 2 lines coming off the vacuum advance, one going to the base of the carb and the other one going to the hot water valve( why?). I have the A/C reservoir sitting there with nothing hooked up to it, ( is this called a reservoir and check valve assy?). All I have is the block diagram of the routings, a picture would be a great help.

I also noticed that when I was under the dash there is a split between the A/C unit and the blower unit. The blower unit is the loose side. I might add that my A/C does not work as many of the engine components are removed and is going to stay like that. All I need is a heater at this time. one more thing..if I am not using the A/C and have parts missing, do I need the water valve, or can I bypass it?

I posted on here back in October/November about the same thing, I took pictures of my engine and posted it.

I'll look around and see if I find it.

I found it, I hope this helps.

I have looked at my engine and I have no vacuum connection (tree?) near the front of the engine, just the one in the back, nor do I see that check valve. I have "something" on the back right side of the carb with a vacuum line going to it that just routes itself back to the mid-back of the carb near the base. I am assuming I have a 302, although I have not looked at the numbers yet.

I found out why my blower assy and A/C assy were had a gap. There was a mount bolt missing from the right side of the blower assy. I put a bolt in it and now everything is aligned.

it sounds like someone moved and removed hoses on you.

the part on the front of the intake manifold is the "DISTRIBUTOR VACUUM CONTROL VALVE"

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=DY165A+01

the check valve is:

Does the distributer Vacuum control valve actually mount in the thermostat housing? If so, the PO had a direct reading water temp gage hooked up to that boss in the housing. Since the idiot light worked, I removed it and installed a copper plug. When I removed the sending unit I got anti freeze out of the hole. Is this valve just a plug mounted there with all the vacuum signals being read from the black plastic top. I still have not located any check valve in the vacuum lines. I am going to see what my engine ID is today and go from there. Do you know if I have all the A/C units removed from the engine bay, and am not going to use the A/C, can I just (remove) bypass the hot water valve?

Just did a quick search for info on the vacuum control valve. I have all my answers. It appears I have some missing things on the engine. Like I said I am going to see exactly which engine I have and go from there. BTW, the engine seemed to run fine when I brought the car home.

Found numbers on the intake manifold D10E 8426-AA that translates to a '71 302. I looked at the Autozone site you sent to me and I have somewhere around #'s 56, 57, 58, or 59. It looks like I have a dual disphragm distributor, but nothing else as far as vacuum check valves or anything else in the vacuum system at this time. How do I tell what this specific engine needs? I tried to email the PO before about another "creation" in the car and got no response. I will try and see if I can get one about the engine.
