My Car
73 Mustang Convertible
Born an I-6, spent the teenage, 20 and 30 years as a 302, but at 40 will reach full potential as a 351C.
Shooting fror the moon here.

My 1970 XR7 351W original motor, 250k miles just cracked a cylinder.

No idea how it happened. The top of the piston has broken off. No idea where the broken piece is.

Would like to keep the car numbers correct.

Any help is appreciated.

ugh. That's what I get for making fun of Doc and his hood.

You might want to look into the possibility of having the cracked cylinder sleeved.....Mark

When my engine came up with a cracked number four cylinder

the crack was in a location not suitable to use a sleeve. At least

that was the position of two mechanics that inspected it. So I

bought a rebuilt Cleveland long block from Don of OMS.

My uncle bought a brand new chevy in 74. years later he wanted me to rebuild the engine. When i tore it down I found one cylinder with a sleeve, and I know it came that way from GM.
