So I am about to replace the burnt-out blinker switch in my 73 Mach w/out tilt. I understand the basic concept of installing one, but I was hoping to get some tips from guys who have done it. Does the collar at the top of the column unscrew and slide down to access the tunnel hole like on a 66-68? Are all the wires individually removed and installed at the plug at the base/bottom of the steering column? And where does the end of the switch come out at the bottom of the steering column--right at the floorboard where the pedals are? THANKS guys...

It will evaporate. Stuff is nasty, causes fur balls in cats.

Remember to consult your doctor if your blinking last for more than 4 hours.

Other than that you are good to go!

73GoldGlowMach,

imusa76 has started you off in the right direction. Remove steering wheel, remove the three black screws holding the switch down, remove the single black screw above the key cylinder. Remove the four nuts (55738-S) that hold the steering column to the brake support bracket. Per the diagram, you have two plugs. The one down mounted on the column is the ignition switch. No need to bother. The turn signal switch is the plug that has a curve in it. Diagram (2). You need to wire down the color wires to the plug position. Recommend this tool to remove the socket plugs from the connecter, http://www.npdlink.com/store/products/removal_tool_wire_terminal_removes-107213-0.html

Once you have the socket pins removed, push the harness up wards, along with the plastic along with its rubber tube, upwards and feed it through the steering columns slot.

Reverse the process.
