I'm going to replace my ignition switch in my 73 vert. I think the 71-72 setup is different but I'm not sure. In looking around down there it looks like the only way to get to it is to drop the steering column by removing the two bolts (or were they nuts?) that hold it up along with another brace a bit further down.

Anyone done this on a 73 that can shine some light for me?

Thanks

Scott

I replaced mine a few years ago. Yes it really helps to drop the column, you do not need to remove it just remove the 4 nuts and let the column droop. It may be possible to do it without dropping the column, I could not.

yes drop it but it is very easy.

There are 4 large nuts that hold the column to the dashboard assembly. for the switch there is one harness plug, then i think 2 screws.

there is a rod that comes down from the ignition key assembly that hooks into the ignition switch.

pretty easy to do. i replaced mine to get my key buzzer working again.
