Doing research on a major problem concerning the T5 cable clutch

interference with long tubes. (checked the archives with no joy)

There is no way my hooker long tubes will allow the clutch cable

to connect to the 78-93 T5 bells cable ear.

Anyone have any success and what headers?

TIA

Paul

Did 6 hrs research today.

There are no shorty headers for 351c 2V heads.

Hydraulic clutch option means you lose the brake booster.

Bruce at MDL tells me that the headers are not an issue with 71-3 stangs

as the cable is routed differently than 67-70 stangs.

Now I wonder if the cable is routed backwards going through the fork first

then ending at the bell's ear?

Bruce at MDL confirmed and sent a photo!

Bottom line is headers not an issue! :bravo:

Well there may be a novel solution.

GM LS truck engine exhaust manifolds are nearly like a cast header and the spacing is identical to the cleveland.

You can make a header flange that will allow you to bolt them together out of aluminum. I saw it posted where someone had done this with a cnc machine, but a couple of gaskets, a good drill press and some effort would turn out similar pieces in a few hours.

I'll see if I can find the information for you. Okay, this is all I've seen so far

Also Sanderson makes an adapter to use 4 barrel headers on 2 barrel heads https://www.sandersonheaders.com/sanderson-fc4-header-set-for-ford-351c-351m-400m-mustang.html?category_id=36 as well as some shorty headers.

Thanks for the reply Jeff!

I'm going to keep my long tubes now that I found out it is a

non-issue for my 5 speed swap.

I thought I was up S creek until I heard from Bruce at MDL!

Now I can sleep

Regards

Paul
