Bump stops

My rear and front bump stops look aged so I want to replace them. For the front I found the Prothanes, but for the rear I can't find any.

My questions:

1. For the front I assume that I have to remove the outer shock tower, which will be good since it is starting to show surface rust on the inside. Also, as far as I was able to inspect with a camera, the channels are full of dirt so this will be a good opportunity to clean them. I guess I have to just unscrew the six bolts and that's it.

2. For the rear. Where can I find these bump stops? Also, are these screwed in or kind of snapped in?

Tony, have only found the original style rubber rear bumpers. They were sourced from the 66-67 full size Ford so they have a Galaxie/LTD part #. (C6AZ-4730-A) They snap in and shouldn't be very difficult to remove. Patience, lube, and a rubber mallet will be your friend on this project! Would we enjoy our cars so much if everything was easy? Lol

If I remember correctly left and right bumpers are push in but center bumper is held on by 2 bolts.

And more junk. A lot of asphalt on the other one.

This design with closed chanels is terrible, specially in this area that sees so much junk during driving.

Terrible indeed. Still on the todo (but very far down on the list)

I plan do something about it, as Netherlands has more wet roads than dry ones

At some point, I did few tests, this is one of them. Sharing the same bolts/shape as the bump stops.

Would need to be finalised, improved on shape so its invisible with fender on, checked on max height above tire, worse case scenarios (like stones in between) etc..

I strategically drilled small holes to help aid in drainage! before replacing rubber bumpers.

Read my mind, I was thinking the same. If not epoxy, a thick bead of sealer may work as well.

I will clean/brush them, and coat them with RustBullet. After that I will find a way of sealing those slots. It does not make any sense to have those open for junk to get in there.

What about using spray insulation foam to about 1/8 in.to the top, then cover with a good epoxy? Less weight!

I am not thinking on filling the whole slot with epoxy. I will just do enough to seal the top.
