My Car
1971 M-code Grande
Back in the day who decided what carb went on your car? According to my 1971 Ford shop manual there were four choices; Rochester, Carter, Autolite or Holley. My current carb is a Holley 80670 or your basic 4150 style. Nowhere in the Marti report, window sticker or Eminger invoice is there any mention of a carb choice. Who made the choice?

Hyena429 is right about the M code, 4300A with almost square bores. Carter for the I-6, Autolite 2100-D V-8 2v, Rochester Quadrajet 4MV for 429CJ, Holley 4150-C for 429 SCJ, and 4300-D for Boss 351. As to who decided to use which carb, all I can say is, FORD decided being greatly influenced by the EPA. Chuck
