Carb question

So I've finally taken delivery of my 71 Mach 1 429 SCJ 4 speed. When the previous owner restored the car they installed a manual choke 600 cfm Holley and it is obvious that this carb is really holding back the power potential. Currently there are no correct, original carbs for sale and while I'd eventually like to find one, in the mean time I would like to put a new 750 (or so) automatic choke, vacuum secondary carb. What would you guys recommend? It will be for street use only.

The carb I would ultimately like to have is an original. They are just extremely rare and hard to come by (none for say that I can find online anywhere, ebay has 2 but are for automatics, not 4 speeds) as they only came on the 70/71 SCJ 429 Mustangs.

What Carb is it and I'll keep an eye out?

D1ZF-9510-YA is the correct part number. There are a few that end in XA on eBay but that one is for the automatic trans cars.

I plugged in that p/n in the search and found an old classified ad with the carb you're looking for. Ad is from 2012 though. Maybe he's still got it.

I sent him a PM and he wrote back and said he still had it. I asked how much he wanted for it but have never heard back. Hopefully I will soon.

4300A's, 4300D's, 2100's, 2150's, and 7200VV's. The leakers, cockroaches, and turds of the 1970's Ford carb world, respectively. No wonder they're cheap.

The 4180's sound interesting though.

Remember, this engine came with a Holley, not a Ford carb. I say just get a simple similar replacement. Holley part #0-82750 is a great choice:

750 CFM

Vacuum secondaries

Electric choke.

Perfect fit, retails for $550, you can surely find it discounted somewhere.

I purchased from this guy in Canada, he is very slow to reply. I ended up talking to his son to get things moving. He used to have a phone number on the 429 megasite in the parts board section. But, for some reason I cannot get in the parts board section any more.

Ordered it from Amazon for $475. Found a great Ford engine guy locally for the install. Can't wait to get it installed and turned up!
