I purchased (what I was told on here) a thermostat for my 351c. It seems to be rather tall and bottoms out before it sits flush on the block. What thermostat are you guys using?

Ok. Thank you. Is that better that a 180'? California is pretty warm in the spring/summer.

That's a kind of philosophy ;)

With an intact cooling system the factory original value of 192° will do. It opens exactly when needed and the engine has slightly warmed up. If you have no cooling problems even in hot Californian summers I would recommend it.

I have read that 180 degrees is to cool for an engine's operating temp. Oil operates better at a higher temp and less cylinder wall wear occurs at temps above 192. The higher temp thermostat is better in my opinion and it was original designated for our engines cooling system.

Ok. Thank you..

The proper thermo for the 351c is the Robert Shaw 333

In the 2nd pic you can see the difference as opposed to the stant which is what I was given as listed for our cars

I received from a kind person from US a Prestone Power Preformance 333-192 one, same as a Robert Shaw.

Before was a 180°. Now the engine temp raise like it should.

And of course the restrictor plate need to be in place.
