I agree with Sheriff41. The rheostat in your headlight switch is probably just worn out. Just replace it. Especially if it is original. I got my replacement switch from Napa. Although that was 17 years ago. I am pretty sure they still stock them. Keep us posted.

++ on the headlight rheostat. When your dash lights go out after 15 minutes try turning the headlight knob back and forth (as if dimming/ brighting instrument cluster). Sometimes that will get them on again.
