Engine Clean and Paint

I took the engine out last winter and it's on a stand. I was planning on pressure washing and painting the block and manifold. What is the best approach to prep for paint?

Any suggestions on Ford paint for the 351C and a 4V Edelbrock intake. The intake is pretty grimy and needs to be cleaned up and possibly painted. Same with the block.

I want to get a close match to the stock colors.

Check out the hose the guy used for the fuel line. I've found some strange things with this car...lol

If you block off all the openings very good, pressure wash away. Spray it with Purple Power or something like it a heavy duty degreaser. As far as the paint goes I have no ideal, as mine is silver (non factory of coarse).

I have no idea, and ignorance is bliss.

I'd imagine the best course of action after cleaning it (using the method Tnfastback suggested) would be to rough up the existing paint, prime over any spots that flaked off using high temp primer, and paint using factory Ford blue with high temp engine paint. I'm sure someone will come along with the correct advice.

Any of the degreasers will work if you help them along,good brushes,scrapers and elbo.......Like was pionted out cover all of the openings to try and keep the water out.I would pull the intake to paint the engine back to it's factory blue.Krylon makes the factory blue,# 1923,Duplicolor has a good blue also.Not sure of the number. It is called Ford Corporate blue or dark blue. While you have the intake off have it glass beaded.If you can't have it blasted you can clean it with brake cleaner or Berrymans B12.Once you get it clean you can paint it using Krylon "Dull Aluminum". Now is the time for a good detail!
