Ok since I got the engine running and electrical going I went to pull the gas tank and figured it would be full of crap. Surprise spotless, no rust or corrosion or varnish build up. I pulled the sending unit out to check the float and it is good. The filter on the end of the pick up tub was split and the filter had fell off. I got it out of the tank and shown in the picture. Is there a source for just the filter or some kind of common over the counter item that is alcohol resistant that I can replace it with? I am thinking maybe put a piece of hose on the end of the pick up tube with an inline filter with the outside drilled full of holes to allow the fuel in.

Any suggestions or past experience. I do want a filter there for sure.

Thanks for the offer Don. I found them in Charlotte close to me and ordered one. I could find nothing local that would work. The one I ordered should be here tomorrow.

I was amazed that there was nothing in the tank. I had seen some horror pictures others had put on their posts. There was nothing in the tank and this car has sat for last 25 years.

Thanks again for the offer.
