Missed the news last night did not see what happened.
My son finally got the notice BMW shut down the other day they ran out of parts since suppliers are shut down. With actually over 11,000 employees they never had two to test positive for the virus.
Some people have no idea what it takes to switch a mfg. facility over to make something entirely different. Some are criticizing the big companies for not making face masks and ventilators. The assembly equipment to make the masks would take weeks to build and with everything shut down no way to make the assembly equipment. The masks they need are not just sewn together.
They do not just have extra molds and tools to make the ventilators sitting around either. The really fast shops in China will be playing catch up so what do you do? We pretty much shut down most tool shops in the U.S. by going overseas.
Sort of like telling farmers to grow corn in the middle of winter, not going to happen. One tool shop I know well in Wisconsin is being limited to 10 employees coming in at any one time.
