Hyd Lifters

Guys,

After all issues recently with my 351 cleveland, I have found that I need to replace my cam & lifters. I found a Comp cam, thumper series that the profile will suit my needs. I have run Comp cams in the past and have not been satisfied with the lifters due to frequent noise, tapping, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions other than roller type ?

I went Rhodes but they are noisy as all get out. Sorry to say it but next time I am going roller.

I'd disassemble and flush the whole engine if your lobes are flat and lifters are concaved... Or you'll be doing the job again, only sooner...

I have them too and they are noisy indeed. They have a good reputation though so I went with them anyway.

the thumper is not designed as a true performance cam, it is designed to make noise.

the best lifters are crane . . $85.00 at summit . . make sure the oil hole in the side does not come above the taper in the lifter bore at full lift.
