i know this isn't a complete restoration job here and probably isn't done to super high standards but it looks good from my couch! Was my first time doing this stuff so don't hit me too hard.

Anyway... I've been chipping away at this for a while now as time and money permits. I recently moved this past summer so time and money up to that point were few and far between.

while I was at the old house I pulled the interior and took a wire wheel to everything, from there I just used Naval Jelly to remove the rust that was there and sealed it with rustoleum. I found that the driver side floor section and the trunk had holes. Everything else seems solid enough so I had those two things replaced. Lastly I installed the XMAT.

I still need to do the doors and trunk but I ran out of material. I still have to reupholster the seats but from there I can pretty much toss in the new carpet and the rest of the interior. Here are some pics.

Floors look great. Aren't wire brushes fun? Pick the darn bristles out of shirt every night, lol.

Hey the door panels went from black to white? I think even with white the speaker grills are black not sure but I think so.

Keep plugging away at it. Make a list so you can start to slash them off seems to make goals easier to meet.

Yes. I guess I forgot to mention. The interior was originally white. I used a full line of SEMS stuff to change everything over to black. I'm not a fan of the all white interior and since it's a restomod I wasn't worried about original looks . This allowed me to get those sweet TMI sport R seats in black with red stitching. More on those to come later when I re-skin my original seats.

Looking great! Shoot, I wished I had known they're selling X-Mat in black, I've used two 9-sheet packages of the silver product and bought a 3rd box. Not sure if I should do the trunk area!? I think they're selling X-Mat specifically for doors and all other vertical areas (must be super sticky). Sometimes X-Mat is on sale like 30% less at Eastwood and the cost is about a third of the cost of Dynamat.

Yeah I've heard good things about it. I should look into the smaller stuff for the doors specifically. I like that this stuff is only 1/8" thick and I think it will help with grip for the carpet.

I'm liking the look of the Xmat, thanks for the writeup. Do you have to apply glue or does it come with ts own adhesive ? Is it breathable ? when i pulled my 72's carpet apart the original factory underlay just felt damp so looking at options, i.e. go with performance and modern tech or factory reproduction, ultimately i want sounde deadening and waterproof but breathable quality (if such product exists !)

I got this off their website. I believe since it's a closed foam cell you should be good to go with moisture.
