So Ive had a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed for awhile now.

In the morning I would crank the engine for 20 seconds or so to get the oil

pressure up before Id let it fire. There would be 60 psi cold and then warm

20 idle 45 max.

Lately when the car sat for 20 minutes or so I had lifter clack for a few seconds at startup.

I researched lifter bleed down on the net and found people telling awful

stories of the orange oil filter that has a reputation of draining due to a bad check valve.

I had an orange filter on the 351C and thought could that be my problem?

I bought a Motorcraft filter and removed the orange one and to my surprise

the orange one had very little oil in it practically empty!

Now with the new filter 75psi cold and warm 20 idle 60 max and near instant oil pressure at startup.

I was not going to post this but figure it might help someone.

Paul
