Metal thickness

I am working on a mach 1 I picked up and I need to do some metal fab. I always thought the older fords were all 18 gauge. Is this correct or is it thinner like 22 guage?

I found it to be closer to 19 gauge - just a hair thicker than 20 gauge - so I used 18 gauge for the patches I had to fab up for the Rickster.
