Looks like some kind of falcon, and looks young. Someone in your neighbor hood may raise them.
yeah Don I have to agree. I'm not much of a bird watcher but falcons are similar to hawks but hawks are usually larger.

I did see where the underbody of older birds of this type are striped.

Interesting.

I got within four feet of the bird and it did not care.

There are a lot of squirrels and lizards in the area.

Walked outside not long ago and found a three foot egret

standing on the fence, no idea where that came from.

look the those claws!!

I usually get red tail Hawks in my yard, they like to try and get in the chicken coop, and they don't care if I run out and try and scare them off, they look at me and laugh!!!

I think it is a bread of Falcon.

coming home from work, call from my daughter."dad how far are you from home? 5 minutes why? Mr Don has a hawk in his house! what? Mr. Don has a hawk in his house? What do you mean a hawk in his house? Its true and he needs your help......

Apparently this big rascal saw the reflection of a squirrel on the tree reflect on his big window flew right through the glass ..and YEP that big sob was perched on his dining room chair....looked to be about 3.5 feet tall estimated 50 lbs (I guess) with talons that were longer than my fingers and you KNOW they are razor sharp. We finally got up the nerve to open a sliding glass door . and he flew out. wing span was HUGE

Looks like a duck falcon to me, the huge claws give it away as a predator. They're really easy to train, might explain why it isn't afraid, might be someone's bird.

Am I the only one that clicked on this thread expecting to see a T-Bird! ;)
