I'm down to the final metal replacement and encountered what seems to be a major issue.

Can anyone tell me what all has to be removed to get a new complete quarter panel installed?

I have the old quarter panel removed, rust all neutralized and am ready to get the new panel in  place.  But, of course, it doesn't just slide right in.  I've scanned the entire site and don't see any tips on getting the new panel in and I suspect I need to remove more parts before it will slide into place.  I have the outer wheel tub removed and the new one clamped into place so I can get it located correctly.

Before I bust any knuckles it seemed like a good idea to ask if anyone has any tips, since I can't find any videos or tips anywhere on line.

Thanks

Not a bodyman here, as I farmed my replacement of rear 1/4 s out, but this may help.

First question, how did you get your old 1/4 separated from the roof panel.  At the factory the roof panel went on after the 1/4's  so the quarter panels are actually under the trailing edge of the roof sheet metal.  Of course this was all buried under the lead fill, so no one would see if you modify that area.

Other than that, what is not fitting up?  With the way the 1/4 lays into the backlight channel and the trunk seal area, it should fit pretty easily.  One word of caution from my experience.  Be sure you test fit your bright trim for the rear window before you weld the 1/4s in place.  Mine 1/4s are an 1/8 inch too close at the base of the back glass to allow my trim to fit.  Once the paint is on, you are stuck!!

Once everything is loose the old panel pulls out pretty easily, specially if you cut it into a couple pieces like I did.  If I didn't have to slide the new panel under the roof panel it might be easy, but I don't see that as an alternative.  There is also the upper trunk section that goes under the lower window trim mount.

I basically wonder how much other people had to take off to get the panel in place, or perhaps there is a way to twist the panel into place without damaging it.
