OEM tach to HEI dist?

Hey all, im trying to connect an OEM tach gage to a HEI distributor in my 71.

I originally had a clock where i am installing the tach in the cluster.

I connect the GREEN distributor/coil output wire to the exposed male end connection on my Tach pigtail and nothing happens...  any Insight would be appreciated!!
