Question on body stripe/two tone

I'm currently restoring a 72 mach 1 back to original factory condition, and have a question on the striping which came from the factory (and valence/rocker/hood two tone)

On my marti report it indicates 'Body Side Tape Stripe'

The paint code for me was 3j - 3077-A (Bright blue metallic) did all mach 1's with this paint code come with Argent two tone/striping or could it have been black as well?

I'm pretty sure it would have been Argent

Did you look under the carpet for your build sheet

I agree with Don. If the car has any original paint around the rear taillight panel or under the carpet near the door sill plates - might be good spots to confirm.

Body side tape stripes is a nice option that many add to their cars when their cars were not equipped originally.

I'm more of a purist so I find it impressive for you to go to the trouble to put it back original.

Here is what I found from one of my Ford books relative to whether hood and bottom rockers got black or argent accents/stripes.

All exterior paint colors use BLACK hood/valance/lower rockers/stripes etc. EXCEPT...

1971-1973...A,C,J,6,4Q,3K,4C got Argent

So I would say it should be argent.
