I've been reading this training websight due to the fact that I also purchased a 2 foot model for the 10 year old for his BD in about 5 months. As I told my wife. IF he takes the little one seriously and learns it, I'll break out the $200 one early.

Well I've been reading this training sight(recommended by my son) and have decided to let Kalob start reading it know and sort of let the cat out of the bag as it were so he can begin TRAINING X-mas day. Read it over and let me know what ya'll think.

Mark,

I have been flying into R/C heli's for over 20 years..& Have taught many to fly...I took a look at your link...Not what I would recommend..One of the best learning books out there is this http://www.amazon.com/Rays-Complete-Helicopter-Manual-Illustrations/dp/B000IXPO5K Although it is a bit dated the theory ..setup..techniques..etc..Are all valid still today..He does have an updated volume here..http://www.rayshelitech.com/#/category/0

The biggest most important thing with r/c helis is setup...

Here's a pic of 1 of my gas jobs...I also fly electric..& I just picked up this

http://ardrone2.parrot.com/ Pretty amazing I will try & get a up a vid in the next day or two.

I was watching the salesman flying one of the cheapo ones in the mall yesterday. I hinted to my wife for one as a Christmas gift, but I don't think she took the bait.

I've seen the videos for the AR Drone...looks amazing. I'm holding off the desire to get one because they're still so new but it looks like they made some vast improvements to the 2.0 model. I'm looking forward to hearing you're thoughts about them. They look really cool!

I thought about a few choppers...I mite pop one of the cheap ones just for fun..lol....I got some rc planes and jets...They are alot of fun..Qcode ever hear of a rc pilot named bill pierce?..I go down and watch this guy called in our local park....Anyone who lives close can check him out too...He is a sponsored rc pilot and has more troophies in his home than there is standing room..lol..Makes ya just sick to watch him fly live.....If anyone going threw my area and loves rc...I recomemed stopping in and seeing him...Nice guy.. he flys t-rex 700's and such...lol..Im not going to touch a heli like that till i get some pratice in with some cheaper heli's...lol

Bill down at our local park...We pop in and chat his ear off when he notice him down there.

I spent over 10 years competing heavily in pattern (97-2008) Always in the top 10 in the tri-state & surrounding area..I also have quite few trophys..I've pretty much always been a scratch builder very rarely buying kits or arf's...Most of my pattern planes are my own design or modified versions of others..Lately I've been flying a bunch of scratch built foamys.. my t-rex 450..heavily modded & a hdx 450..

Here's a few pics of my 2 meter pattern planes then my foamys...The last shot is the current foamy I'm working on..Called the tadpole designed by a good pattern friend of mine..3d pattern design

Don,

I've been pretty darn impressed with my ar drone..as a entry point quad copter..for the money you can't beat it..I got mine on sale at brookstone for under 3...Takes a bit to get used to since I fly r/c I had to use the left hand option for the joy pad..(thats the same way I fly rc as do most others collective pitch & tail rotor (yaw) on the left)...Buy one you won't be disappointed..You can buy aftermarket batteries 3s 1300mah from hobbyking for like 11.00 bucks each..then make or buy the required adapter plug...

Cool. I might just have to get one then. Yup, HobbyKing...get all my batts from there. You can't beat those blue LiPos for my RC cars...and for cheap! I've not gotten into RC flying. I can easily fix it when I break a C-hub or lower control arm but RC plane crashes seem to be a bit more catastrophic when they occur. They make great YouTube fodder though. Ever fly a 4wd RC car? You can change the pitch, roll and yaw via the torque from the throttle & steering. The 4 spinning wheels act like little gyros. That's the closest I've gotten to flying RC. Lol

Oh yeah...that's a nice collection of aircraft!

I used to make foamys, and we used to go to a local baseball field and Battle to see who is the last plane to fly.

and the guy who showed me how to fly, said " I'll show you how not to crash and distroy your plane". it must be a common line they use :)

I have one of teh guys I used to work with, he modified a big Heli to have a digital camara on it, to take arial pics, looked cool.

some nice big birds there man..Is that top one a yak? and im sure your runing the big 4 stroke motors in there...they do get spendy.

I like the foam planes..Thought about making one sence they look fun to try..I own a few kit's...

I got that bird...a parkzone upgraded foam FW190...Its not a bad bird thou...and a foam f6f jet..She will go almost 100 mph atleast...what a missle...I havent flown it yet...Im tring to get my chops before i let loose and hopefully not destroy it on the maiden flight...lol..Im below novice...So i go around and talk too alot of the pro's...It cracks me up..that my jet on the box said for beginers...lol..They all told me..If you try to fly that and hardly decent with a park flyer...Well it will last about 5 secs!!..lol

10 year old got up while I was outside and went strait for the heli. 6 feet right into the couch and wiped the tail rotor and under main. took him ouside with Gavins'( 5 year old is too young anyway) and he's been flying it all day. Can actually run it out of power now! Kids?

The five I bought have been played with non-stop all day. By far they are the favorite gifts received by the kids. Numerous crashes & nothing has broken yet. They are a great bargain for $20.

My 4 yo nephew got me one of those 6-8'' rc helicopters for Christmas. I'm not very good at flying it yet, but it's lotsa fun!

Joe
