I don't know much about your car but turbos are usually pretty finicky on carbed motors. I'm no expert by any means and have never personally turboed a carb motor but the biggest issue is getting the right amount of fuel at the right time.

Just my two cents.

In regards to blow through carbs, I converted my car to fuel injection in order to run a turbo. People get them to work, but FI makes more sense to me in this case. Rear mount wouldn't be my first choice, but for a low boost application it would work.

Roy, your going to put a turbo on your daughters new car???

I think a rear turbo would add to the 'lag factor' of turbo charged engines as the compressed air has farther to travel.

The plumbing might cause some loss depending on the number of bends. Certainly will heat up the floor boards. Finally, you can't provide oil to the turbos back there (they must be sealed?) Oil from the engine typically also helps cool the turbo.

I think the more turbo successful installations would use a carb box setup (where the carb sits inside a pressurized box).

Carb has to be manual secondary (vacuum secondaries won't work in either blow through or boxed). Typically a differernt fuel pump is used that uses a hose to the manifold to sense the boost and increase fuel pressure.
