ok i give up.. how do i get to the drivers side top of shock ??? want to remove it to ease replacing the rubber brake line.. i dropped the seat back, pulled the 2 screws that hold a flats section behind the seat, but can't get it up..

i could not find anything here or on the net. but i got it.. for the future stang owner that wants to know how...

remove rear seat bottom, push in front and lift out.

now lift the flap on the bottom of seat back and remove 4 bolts (2 ea side) and lift seat back away.

on the area of the floor that humps up about 12" in from side, look for a plastic cap. remove and u'll see the upper bolt for the shock.. remove.

Oh - you must have a fold-down rear seat.

I remember just pulling the upper back seat cushion and peeking through the sheet metal 'cross bar braces' to spot the openings for the upper shock mounts behind seat itself.

huh... i thought all fastbacks were fold down rear seats.. well learned something new again..
You have a fold down rear seat............. lucky bugger!! I only know one person with a Mach1 WITH a fold down. It was an option, like most stuff was back in the day.

The rear shocks on a non fold down are accessed the same way, remove the seat back. They ARE a pain in the a**.
