All,

I have installed new OEM NOS Roof-rail Weatherstrip Guide Clip At Quarter Window and front door glass. Looked really nice. Several months later, I noticed that the coating has cracked and started to rust. The nice thing about this was that I had not glued the rubber weather strip yet. How do you keep this from happening again? On the drivers side, I removed them and used aircraft stripper to remove coating and submerged them in Skyco Ospho until they stopped bubbling. I got a friend to powder coat the two.

On the passenger side , my friend was not available, so I found a product call Plasti-Dip. Black color. One thing I recommend, is to take a glass cup, add some some Plasti-Dip and thin it out a bit. Right out of the can, it is too thick.

Thanks,

I also used this material. One thing I found is that if you heat gun what you are putting it on it will put a much thicker coat on. I also use on wiring to seal up breaks in the covering. After you open the can save a pickle jar or a jar that has a screw on lid with a seal to put your extra in and it stays liquid.

David,

Ok, the wiring part is a good idea. On the cover, I was wondering how was it to the air out from causing it harden. Thanks

 for the tips!
