I've always been a big Star Trek fan, but not a Trekkie. When I was a kid I saved the Washington Post TV Guide magazine introducing Star Trek on the cover from 1966 when the series premiered; still have it. I may have to check out the game.

Im not a trekkie either..But always a fan..Specialy of the original seires and movies......I was afraid this game would be more like the new trek..but its really cool mix of all the movies..ships and such..And if you wish ..You can pay and get the original 1960's enterprize lol...Im in a wrath of kahn special right now!! What a blast...And i do mean blast!! hehe..Cool thing whatever you name your ship...It puts the name on your ship..Mine is the uss badger..lol

And so many aliens you can be...You can beam down to worlds...Fight in space...Help on mission...And even explore like the original.

I'm gonna have to check it out...I've always been a fan (not a trekkie either) but Gene Rodenberry was a freakin' genius! Today's scientists are trying to bring stuff into existence that he dreamed up decades ago!

Ya its worth checking out if your a fan or a trekie even!! hehe..I just worked into the 1979 constitution class from the movies..woot...Its a little too much fun...Heck you can have a blast in the first ship they give you...If your into the star trek stuff and like adventure games with alot of shoot outs...Its a good one to try!!..lol.grafics are great...Explosion top notch...and free! woot...you can pay for extra stuff if you wish..But even the free play gives you alot to do and modify.

Old time online gamer. Even before the Internet I ran a BBS that people dialed into via modem, pre-broadband, to chat, download files, and play games. Played Doom for years then Quakeworld. Played Asheron's Call for 8 years. Tried WOW(World of Warcraft) Lord or the Rings and all the latest greatest MMORPG's but never really stuck with them. Might have to try this one out.

I'm with you, Detector. Most of mine was 3D shooters against friends (Quake, Unreal Tournament) and some driving games (Need For Speed series, NASCAR Racing).

I tried WoW because my wife's into it, but honestly - I grew out of my D&D phase after high school and USAF Tech School (took it up again because I was always broke as a young Airman). Fantasy games just don't do it for me anymore. Not to mention, WoW is just too much like being at work for me. There are too many 'little things' you need to do to accomplish the goal.

My thought on games now, "if I can't kill it, fly it, or drive it, and be thoroughly satisfied within an hour - it's a waste of time." I get a lot of mileage out of MAME games (Galaga, Asteroids, Spy Hunter), pinball, and Spider Solitaire these days.

Same here i played the first online games on a old pentium with a 1 and a half gig hard drive..lmao..doom..diablo..quake 1 and 2....And i couldnt get into WOW at all...I tried a bit..But not my cup of tea..Im usualy more into war games than fantasy...Usualy flight sims..driving games...first person shooters...was a big fan of battle tech and mech warrior....But i have to say..This game is very well rounded...You get to first person shooter a bit...Fight a bit....explore....and fast mission and some long ones if you wish....And instead of pure fantasy...Its more sci fi... simple controlls but if you wish you can over complicate it...I love how easy it is too modifi to what you wish to do...lol...PLus you get a away team of your bridge members when you beem down...And they help out alot in big scraps....One mission i just got done with...Was just like the tv show..A rip in time that took me back in time...Back too the old 1960's star trek and ships and old gorn enemies...All the old computers..It was too cool!! Im suprized how good they did make it...Impressing me more every day....But you need a good machine to play it..Im using a pentium i7 now with 9 gigs of dd3...Runs it smooth as butter.

I started to download last night and it was saying 2 1/2 hours for the download. I had to stop as it was slowing down the computer too much. I will finish downloading later today or tonight and give it a try.

I'm still a big fan of Age of Empires II!

I beta and early access this game back when it was released, it was fun but just couldn't hold my interest. I am now playing Star Wars The Old Republic, now that I have beta and early access to the point it's all I play now. One of the fastest growing MMO's today. This game kicks ass.

I loved Doom! I play Company of Heroes now... or the new 7173mustangs game...
