Starter question

Hey guys just wondering if all the starters are the same for the c4, c6, and fmx small block trannies. Im looking at starters at autozone and they only list one for auto tranny and does not specify which auto?? I know i used the same starter from my 302 with my 351c. And its a c4 trans. Just want to make sure im getting the right starter. So far it looks like the starters are all the same for the small block autos for our cars. Let me know if anyone knows any different. Thanks

Take your old one with you and compare anyway cause I have seen some errors when buying parts

When I was in shop class two years ago I had the same question. When i was out in the shop my starter wasn't working. Instead of buying one I went to a 302 we had laying in the shop and snagged the starter off of that. It was linked to a c4 trans. Anyways it bolted right up, no problems at all. Still turns my cleveland on to this day. In conclusion it worked haha! Maybe it was just my luck

I used same starter for I6 with C4 on a 302 with FMX. So pretty sure they are all the same. Ford pretty much used same starter for like 20 years.

Be prepared to definitely bring in your current starter to compare to the one you're buying. Many, if not all, of the catalogs have the Mustang automatic and manual starters switched. Ask me how I know...

I wish you were closer, I have a starter for an automatic I'll likely never use.
