Well, we're moving from the Memphis area to the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee. We've got a lot of car stuff to move, so I bought a car hauler on Craigslist about a week ago. Today, we loaded Rusty on it and got it strapped down. I laid the doors on the deck and strapped them down underneath it. The hood and fenders are in the truck bed.

Tomorrow, it will be a quick run to eastern Tennessee, to park the stuff in a storage unit. I've got Monday off for the return trip, but Tuesday, it's back to work. I've got another long weekend next week, so plan to haul the two motors (302 and 351C), tranny, 2 diffs, riding lawn mower, and my welding table (700 lbs) on that run. Sep 29th, the moving van will be loaded and we'll be on our way, for the last time.

It's a major PITA, but exciting.

Brings back memories. When I moved from SoCal to Northern Cal I made the 900 mile round trip every weekend for three months. Most of the time it was my tired El Camino pulling junk on a trailer. Moving can be a pain.

Good luck and safe driving!

Yes, moving is a big deal and is not easy at all. Looks like you're taking a sensible steady approach to the whole thing.

All the best with the move, and i hope you get settled in and settled down in your new place real soon.

But our new home has 2.5 acres and the wife has agreed to let me build a garage/shop out back. Now we're negotiating on size, but 40x50 probably going to be close. It will have to look like a barn on the outside to keep with the agricultural setting. It will probably be several months before we break ground on the new shop, though. In the meantime, I've got to get ready, because it's time to hit the road.

Yeah I am up for a career change this year and do not plan on staying in the area I live in (unless I win the lottery). I am not quite sure how moving of the cars is going to go at all... Good luck with the rest of the move!

Thanks, everyone. The shop will take a while, but I will definitely post pix of the process. Just got home after driving about 16 hours over 2 days. Rusty is now safely tucked away in a storage unit, along with some other parts.

Next weekend, we get to move motors, trans, riding mower and welding table, as well as the engine hoist. :s

CONGRATS .... you are a smart man to move from Gawd Forsaken Memphis to the Tri-Cities. I love it up there. One of my projects is running around in the area, can be seen over at Bristol on occasion as the new owner works for the speedway.

1969 Torino GT Formal Coupe 351 Windsor and Firemist Red. She is a beauty. I must admit I slightly regret selling that one.
