Hello all, I bought a aftermarket mirror from NPD well over a year ago. The car was disassembled with no glass in the door. Now I have painted the mirror and the door and started re-assembly. The problem is the remote control cables are too short to route around the front edge of the glass and the window won’t go up and down. I’m following the body assembly manual routing diagrams and the remote control cables are just about 2 inches too short. Anybody have any tips? And how tight can I bend those cables ?

I reached out to NPD to try to get a manufacturer contact but this is going to be difficult to fix since the mirror was painted and the parts all appear pressed together.

anyone else have a similar problem?

Yeah, I have the assembly manual, and have a ziptie/ post style cable clip mounted there with control cables going through it. That diagram is not really accurate, my mirror is a little further back and my cable is so tight it pretty much makes a straight line to the clip and another straight line to the mount hole.

🤬This really makes me angry. $150 for this. 3 inches shorter than stock. It will never reach..I might as well get out the cutting pliers and hack the cable off.🤬C982A171-EB32-400C-85F1-A78104CBF36E.jpeg

Hello, have you considered relocating the controller further forward than recommended? That will shorten the cable route.

There is a precut hole for the adjuster in my $600+ door panel and a pre cut hole in the interior door shell no moving the location…

I bought this from NPD July 21, just got the paint done and the glass back in the door…I doubt they will do anything…but will ask…and I think it’s an APC product but not sure, it has no manufacturer info on the box, just NPD labels. What I really need is the manufacturer to press in new cables, the thing is primed and painted, I don’t want to try to repaint and match…

I looked at it, the cables are pressed in and soldered in, there’s no easy fix other than wire cutters and new control assembly… I have chatted with Rick, the owner of NPD In the past, they are a real stand up company, there might be a chance they will take it on and fix it…

Actually there is a little bracket hole near the front of the door very near the top. You can use a zip tie or a cable loop and that should work for you. It worked for me.

I am using that mount point to keep the control cable there…problem is it’s 3 inches short, and blocks the window movement…

Just a quick update.
NPD has been very gracious and helpful. They found a company on the west coast, possibly the importer, that can rebuild the mirror for me. The Mirror is on a UPS a truck to Cali. I will update when something happens!

Well, I'm glad they did the right thing and then some. You don't see that much anymore.Chuck
