1972 fastback mustang. Bought as a project after going through quit a few people.
I’ve probably went down the rabbit hole several times on the forums. But I’m looking for the best wiring diagram out there. I have a painless wiring set and about to begin running them but I’d like to find a really good diagram to reference to. Anybody have any suggestions?

I have found the wiring diagrams in PDF files from Forel Publications to be of excellent quality and very accurate and complete. I have made some small annotations, and even fewer corrections, in my PDF files for 71,72, & 73 Mustang wiring schematics. The schematics are colorized to help make the various circuitry clear. There are some changes between those three model years, so if you need more than one model year in 1971 - 1973 Model Year Mustang range you will be best off purchasing the specific model year schematic document you need. Their web site is at:

Many of the Forel PDF files for electrical schematics come in a password protected PDF file. I found that the password protection was preventing me from copying document pages without some blurring at best, through not being able to move page copies into separate files. I resolved this using the "Coolmuster PDF Password Remover" - My version is for MAC, but they have a Windows product as well. https://www.coolmuster.com/

If you ever need the engine vacuum schematics (aka calibrations) for a First Generation Mustang they are not provided in any Ford shop manual before 1973, at least none that I could find. The good news is that for 1973 Ford apparently began to take the lack of vacuum diagrams seriously, and the 1973 Ford shop manual from Forel includes a chapter (Volume 6) that explains how the various emission control systems are designed, and even provides vacuum schematics for 1973. There are 2 missing calibrations, however, and both are for the 1973 351C 4v engine. I found those two missing schematics from a location I no longer remember. Luckily I was able to download those two missing calibrations. No matter, here is a the link to my Google Drive where the two missing calibrations are contained is a single file are located:

For vacuum calibrations from 1967 through 1972, The Mustang Barn produced the suite of missing diagrams, and made then freely available from their web site https://mustangbarn.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi). With their knowledge and permission I assembled their many files into a collection of calibrations in a single PDF file that is grouped by year, then sorted by engine. The file I created is also on my Google Drive at:

For 72, I found the best to be contained in the 1971-1972 Electrical assembly manual. It shows all the connectors too which many schematics don't. Those are sold by many Mustang parts dealers.
