I didn't see much on this topic in my searches or in the MPC. I am adding OEM power windows to my 1972 Fastback. All the donor hardware and wiring came from a 73 Fastback. Could anyone confirm as to where exactly the power window door wiring harnesses (reference the two special, molded-on straps circled in the attached photo) fasten to the door inner panel? Perhaps this car does not have all the provisions to attach this harness and I need to add them?
Thank you in advance!

Sounds like your converting from manual crank to power windows. In addition to the wiring and power window motor regulator assemblies you will need door windows made for the power window option. Power window door glass has large half moon cut outs on the bottom edge to provide clearance for the regulator. Crank windows do not. However, the power window glass works on manual crank cars, but not vise-versa.

Steve, glad to help. The correct glass should have been in the 73 Mach 1 you obtained the harnesses from. Also power window Mach 1's had the rear side windows powered. Standard Mach 1's had fixed non movable rear side windows. If you are also converting the rear side windows you will need the rear side window guides and regulators/motors. These would have been in that same 73 Mach 1. The same guides are used on coupe and convertible (Mustangs and Cougars) rear side windows as are the regulators/motors. The Mach 1 rear side glass is the same power or fixed. 73 PW switches are different the 71/72 type, but will work fine in 71/72s, just not be "show correct".

I am adding nu-relics power window regulators. They have the motor in a different spot so the glass isn’t an issue.

Unfortunately it is an issue that they mount where I cut out for custom speakers.

This is the passenger side view from the Electrical Assembly manual. There are pre-punched holes for the fasteners and the hook on the inner strap.

I’m also doing a conversion. Where does plug #21 attach? Thanks

Door ajar warning light system on a Cougar XR7. There's an extension harness that runs from that plug to the door latch mechanism.
