Probably should add that some installers will only work with what they purchase themselves. You will need to talk to each shop for their policy. But if you know the catalogue cost of materials, you can get a pretty good idea of their markup.

You don't need to drop the steering column to remove/install the instrument cluster. I DO drape a heavy towel on the column to prevent scratching. If you want to drop the steering column (to remove dash assembly), you can lower it to rest on a crate (or similar) without affecting the rag joint.

You'll need to take the door panel off to make window fore and aft adjustments; tilt ( do by bolts located on underside of the door); and check / adjust upper and lower stops once you have the glass fore/aft adjustment set.

Stainless for a car you intend to drive to cruises, shows, fun events, etc. Aluminum if you HAVE to have original material; but don't be surprised as how fast scuffs and dents will suddenly show up.

Thinking this will probably sell for low to mid 20's at Mecum.  Boss 351's do well, but all other 71-73's usually only so-so. A knowledgeable good inspection is highly recommended for this car.  It certainly is a real colorful eye-catching cruiser.

Mine is installed in the trunk mounted on filler tube support braces.  It's wired into the power supply side wiring for the fuel pump.  Fuel pump operation is controlled by EFI ECU.  Pump is turned off by EFI if engine is not started within 15 seconds of turning key to power.

Sounds like a considerable portion of your issues involve a carb that has multiple issues and may need to be replaced.  Compared to installing EFI (I've done it since 2005 and continue to show/drive a 69 vert with Holley EFI), replacing the carb and getting a proper dial-in is considerably less...
