Ok, just a follow up. I purchased the boss 302 spacer as suggested by Chuck and it seal’s perfectly with the bonus of having a functional PCV. So if anyone is having the same issue you know what to do now.

I have the factory schematic book, but it is terribly hard to read being one color, small print and no key. Does anyone have a simplified schematic or know where to find one? Thanks, Ron

I hadn’t considered that. Would the vacuum be the same there? It would certainly alleviate the problem. I can’t see it fouling plugs more at that entry point than the stock location. At least not on a healthy engine.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and cut it. I would have liked to have cut and welded the top section, however I didn’t want to paint or rechrome. Pool ball is going to be replaced as well, but it looks better! It was the least of my worries, it just bothered me. Ron

72 302. I am installing the exhaust on the car and using the original factory exhaust manifolds. I have manifolds for a 73 and a 72. My question is the 72 manifolds had no sleeve to center the exhaust donuts on the 73 it had sleeves that the donut fits over which I assume is to center the donut...
