    72 Coyote Project

This weekend we installed the Coyote into our ’72. Lucky for us, ceramic coated headers (Doug's) showed up Saturday to top off the build. We started out test fitting the TKO to the engine using a 2005- Mustang clutch with a ’96-’04 Quick time bellhousing, clutch arm, and throw out bearing. The...

    1972 Mustang Coyote Fastback

I tend to sit back a watch others post about their cars. Without input from online resources like this one, I would struggle more with our ’72 build. If you are interested in our Coyote build, I suggest you join the Facebook group I created: “1972 Mustang Coyote Fastback” It’s a work in...

    72 is back from paint

The Mustang returned from paint on Friday and it looks great. Hoping to have the car done and back on the road by end of July for Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach, SC. The car is desperate need of new Billet Specialties rims. The blue is 2015 Deep Impact from a Mustang. Hope you like.

    72 Coyote Update

It’s been about a year since I posted about my Dad’s ’72 Coyote project. Last fall we had high hopes of showing off the car at Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach this year, but plans got delayed due to other priorities. I am happy to report the car is on track for 2016 and currently out for paint...

    Wheels on our 72

In the morning I'm taking the Fastback down to have 3" exhaust pipes, Spin Tech Mufflers, and a x-pipe installed. They will have fun clearing the rear axle, coil overs, gas tank, and sway bar. :) To ensure the car sits level I pulled the beater rims/tires and installed 17" Billet Specialties...

    72 Fastback Grille

I’ve seen three different grilles used on 1971-73 Mustangs. I understand one with vertical sport lamps are for 73’s. Our car is a ’72 Fastback, not the Mach 1, and originally came with a 302 auto. Did the car come with horizontal sport lamps or non at all?

    Coyote Install

Last week we had a chance to install the Coyote 5.0 crate engine and TKO600 trans into our ’72 Fastback. :) The vertical slots in the engine cross member had to be moved forward 1” to correctly position the engine/trans so we could use the Modern Drive Line (MDL) TKO trans member. At first the...

    Body work is done

Body work on our 72 is finished. Time to test fit the engine, trans, and custom parts (Newer AC unit, 4 wheel disc, EFI computer, & new wiring). Not looking forward to relocating the master cylinder 1-2" to clear the engine. Looking forward to paint late spring, early summer.

    Bodywork is close

In an effort to keep our 5.0 project moving, I decided to get a local shop to finish adjusting body panels and fix the door/bumper gaps at the quarters on our 72. Check out the new flat panel inner fender panel. I will be test fitting the drivetrain and interior in a few weeks. After that we...

    14 x 7 Hurst Wheels w/ Ford bolt pattern

What should I start bidding at? In February/March I’m going to list a set of 14 x 7 Hurst rims (Ford bolt pattern) and original shipping cans for a friend on eBay. They have been in storage for the last 18 years. Before that they were used on a 1962 Mopar and 1971 Mustang coupe. It’s my...

Need Help - Suspect I'm missing parts

Our 72 Fastback (Non Mach 1) has been apart for many years and I am having trouble remembering everything. I have a few questions: 1. Behind the rear bumper - Does this model/Yr use the angle sheet metal bumper trim cover located behind the bumper that spans the width of the taillight panel...

    Coilover Suspension

Just finished installing a Rod & Custom front and rear coil over suspension - Figured I would post some pictures. The installation was straight forward. For the rear, we ordered their coil over setup, housing with axles, Wilwood disc, and Strange Engineering true track 4.11 3rd member. As...

    Mustang II Suspension

As I mentioned in my intro, we are installing a Coyote 5.0 in our ’72 Mustang. My dad picked up the Mustang II suspension from Rod & Custom Motorsports Friday on his way to PA. The pictures below represent 3 days of work. Saturday I used a plasma cutter to cut out the towers, cross member...

    First Post

First post from Lancaster, PA. I’ve been watching this forum for some time and figured it was time I introduce myself. 20 years ago my dad put his ’72 Fastback project aside to finish my ’65, my brothers truck, and so forth. A year ago I picked it in rough condition after spending years...
