Hi all
I’m working on my 1971 2 spoke steering wheel with a center horn button .
I had cracks in the wheel and epoxy filled and sanded it down . My question is has anyone put the textured look back on the 2 spokes , and if so what did you use ? I am thinking of painting the wheel let it dry and maybe put paint on a sponge and dabbing it in that area . Any thoughts would be great
Thanks . AJ

You can make a mold of the texture from the uncracked parts of the spokes. When you fill the cracks, press the mold into the filler before it sets. Apply some fiberglass mold release wax on the pattern before you press it into the unset filler. If you are lucky, the cracks will be in different places on the spokes from one side to the other so you can pull molds that actually fit where the cracks are.
