I am trying to gather ideas on how to add a 3-point seat belt for the rear seats. I have seen some posts but they have been for non fold down seat options. I have the fold down seats and being a sportsroof makes it more difficult. I could attach the retractable end of a shoulder strap to the rear floor with an angle adapter, but because of the fold down the attachment point would be by the trunk wall, about two feet behind the seat back. If I do this, then I need to find an attachment point in the roof or somewhere high by the C pillar, which I don't know if it is possible.  :chin:  Any ideas?

The front shoulder belts use a welded nut on the roof structure. You could possibly do the same type of thing in the rear, but you would have to pull the head liner. I dont really know if thats a practical idea or not.

Hello tony-muscle

Check out these guys. It may or may not work for you.

Thank you. I had them in my radar screen. They have a retractable retrofit system for the coupe. I think that with some customization and creativity it could be adapted. I just emailed them to see if they will build one to my spec.

I posted my solution to this problem in another thread. At that time I couldn't find this thread but now that I can master the search function a lot better I found it. So here is a link to the 3-pt belt system I adapted to the rear:

Put in roll cage and you  can do anything. If they are not mounted substantially they will just pull out. I saw BMW fail first crash testing with CATI designed and simulated seat and shoulder belt attachments. The reinforcements  were probably 10 times the size in our cars and they all ripped out. Had to do major redesign and scrapped finished tooling.    A belt just bolted in for visual is not worth much.
