302 headers with manual trans

New to this forum and thank you all in advance for your help. I have a '73 convertible with a 302 and a 3 speed stick. Here is my problem. I've installed aftermarket SpeedPro/ ProComp aluminum heads and I want to keep the z-bar for the clutch. I've looked many places and ordered two sets of shorty headers that don't even come close to fitting. I have to think I'm not the first one to run into this problem. Anyone else had this problem and how did you get it resolved?

I believe that those were the first ones I tried. The aluminum heads have higher exhaust ports and these run smack into the middle of the bar.

You might try FPA, they have headers for Yates high port 302 heads.

just called them, closed until thursday and 5 weeks out on production

302 with stock heads. Clears everything by a mile.

I tried a couple of different headers for my 5.0 with Ford gt40 heads with no luck.  The ports were always to small on the headers.  I kept the JBA 1650SJS headers and installed a hydraulic system.

Installed the Mcleod MCL-1304 hydraulic throw out bearing and gave up the zbar when I couldn't find any headers.

How do you like the hydraulic throw out bearing? That's one thing I've never tried. Had a couple with a clutch slave cylinder setup. They worked well, except were prone to rust in the slave cylinders, never got around to getting them brass sleeved.
