71, 302 engine gauge feed wiring

Hello everyone, 

Can someone please describe how the engine gauge feed wiring is supposed to be routed on top of the engine? 1971 302, non-AC, non-tach car. Currently there are no clips present. If there are supposed to be clips, how many are needed and where are they supposed to be located? A picture would be very helpful also.

Harness lays down on driver's side of intake, supported by standoffs and clips on the valve cover. Don't have any pics handy.
