72 351 4v snorkel heat riser tube connection

hello all....the heat riser tube(not sure if this correct terminology) from snorkel to engine...does the hose have some type of connection at the base of the snorkel? or just loosely fit in there?? Mine has no type of connector...it just sticks into the base of the snorkel looslely...seems strange !! thanks, Adam

ok...got that !! is there some type of "housing" that fits tightly around the hose at the snorkel connection ?? i understand the clip holds it there, but was concerned the hole on the snorkel to accept the hose was much bigger then the hose coming in from the top of engine. Matter of fact...im not really sure what this damn hose does !!!! probably smart to figure this out first.. tks, Adam
