73 Auto Shifter rebuild

I am starting to rebuild my automatic shifter. Here is what I am starting with:

Neutral safety switch:

Started with shift lever. Sandblasted and ready for primer:

Primed ready for paint:

I JUST finished doing this yesterday after watching this video and ordering the parts. What a difference a couple little plastic bits can make!

Yeah, I replaced mine a while ago. It was a huge improvement.

Hey Greg, thanks for the video! The bushings that were in mine looked like phenolic and the shifter was almost frozen in place. Looks like the new plastic ones should work much better.

Glad to be of help, Scott. I replaced the bushes in both my '73 Stangs, and had a big win with ending up with both really good functioning selectors.Yes, the little bit of plastic makes all the difference.::thumb::

Cleaned up some more parts of the shifter:

Now I just need to buy the shields and bushings to start putting it back together.
